Jessica completed her community service year at the Johannesburg General Hospital in 2003. Following this, she spent a year travelling and working in the USA, including working at the Vail Sports and Medical Centre. She returned home in 2005 to build her career as a therapist in South Africa.

Jessica worked at Pro-Physio, a sports and orthopaedic practice in the Sandton Medi-Clinic for several years before being offered ownership of this practice. Jessica continued to both treat patients and manage this practice from 2008 to 2012. Jessica is the founder of Barrow Physiotherapy, opened in the Netcare Waterfall City Hospital in 2011. In 2012 Jessica successfully completed her SPT 1 - an accreditation in Orthopaedics, Sports Injuries and Rehabilitation (This accreditation includes a year of course work, practical and written exams). Jessica has attended numerous weekend training courses and has travelled globally with her husband, Dr Michael Barrow, to attend Orthopaedic and Sports Injury Congresses. Jessica aspires to further her knowledge and experience in managing sports injuries with a special interest in running related conditions. In 2025 Jess would like to do her Norton certification ( USA ) in Decongestive and Lymphatic therapy with a special interest in treating the co morbidity of lymphoedema seen in cancer patients. Jess believes this area of therapy is very underestimated and can greatly benefit the quality of life of patients undergoing chemo therapy or struggling with terminal cancer.
